The Guillotine was the notorious killer during the French Revolution. It was originally introduced to stop the torture and inhumane death of criminals. Yet later became the symbol of death. Many people were killed during this tragic time, anywhere from 16,000 to 40,000 . Included in these large numbers, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were both executed in 1794. Maximilien X became very powerful and was associated with terror. He condemned many, and later was put to death the same way. Eventually, the use of the guillotine was more and more push away. Today we do not hear about deaths from the guillotine except in History.
